Helping The Myton Hospices Make Room for More Care

Squab Removals is proud to continue supporting The Myton Hospices as the charity launches an important new appeal to help more local people receive the specialist care they need.

At Squab Removals, supporting our local community has always been important to us. As a Warwickshire-based business, we’re proud of our longstanding relationship with The Myton Hospices and the incredible work they do for patients and families across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Over the years, we’ve supported Myton in a number of ways, from sponsoring their much-loved Santa Sleigh and helping Santa spread some festive cheer, to introducing QR codes on our removal boxes, giving customers a simple way to make a donation. Our Managing Director, Paul Tracey, has even been known to swap his usual workwear for an elf costume to help Santa on his rounds!

Now, we’re helping to raise awareness of a particularly important campaign.

Making room for more care – Myton’s Bed Appeal

The Myton Hospices has launched a new £327,000 Bed Appeal, with the aim of funding three additional hospice beds for 12 months, enabling more people across Coventry and Warwickshire to receive specialist palliative and end-of-life care.

While Myton has 36 inpatient beds, it currently only has sufficient funding to keep 25 of them open.

The consequences are heartbreaking. Every year, around 200 local people die or become too unwell to move while waiting for a hospice bed to become available. That’s almost four people every week.

Behind every one of those figures is a person, a family and loved ones who deserve comfort, dignity and compassionate care at an incredibly difficult time.

By raising £327,000, Myton hopes to open three more beds for a full year, helping more local families access the care and support they need, when they need it most.

Taking the message into the heart of Warwick

To mark the launch of the appeal, members of the Myton team were joined by local dignitaries and representatives from supporting businesses, including Squab Removals, for a symbolic journey through Warwick.

Together, they pushed a hospice bed from Warwick Myton Hospice to Warwick Market Square, drawing attention to the urgent need for additional funding.

It was a powerful way to highlight the reality that hospice beds are standing empty, not because they aren’t needed, but because the funding simply isn’t there to open them.

We’re proud that members of the Squab team could be part of the launch and help bring attention to such an important cause.

Every donation makes a difference

The Myton Hospices provides its services free of charge to patients and their families, butrelies heavily on charitable donations and fundraising to continue delivering this vital care.

Whether it’s a small donation, taking part in a fundraising event or simply sharing the appeal with friends and family, every contribution helps.

As a business that works with families throughout Warwickshire and beyond, we know how important our local communities are. Supporting organisations like Myton is one small way we can give something back.

We would love our customers, colleagues and fellow local businesses to join us in supporting Myton’s Bed Appeal.
